Our students are currently preparing for the round up of their 3 months of FREE trainings. The pictures below show the Keyboard and Drums student seating their exams. We are very happy to say that most of our students never had prior knowledge before coming for the trainings and in 3 months, their proficiency had greatly improved. Some keyboard students were accompanying the drums and vice versa. As the Christmas and New Year approaches, we want to take the time to thank all our students, trainers and all those who have helped us make this year a huge success.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. An HIV/AIDS Awareness sensitization visit was carried out today at the Akpajo Senior and Junior Secondary Community Schools. The students were educated about HIV/AIDS and what exactly it stood for, how the disease could be contracted and how it could be avoid. In her lecture, the representative from the Ministry of Health made the students aware that the most important way of avoiding the disease was abstinence and for them to focus on their education. She however advised that if they could not abstain, the best option is to ensure that they used protection and stayed with a single partner. She also made the students aware that they should speak out also if they are been sexually assaulted at home or at school since sexual intercouse was one of the methods of transmission and keeping silent would not help matters but rather aggravate issues. Students were given HIV/AIDS branded Notebooks by the Caywood Brown Foundation to help them remember the training and the message that HIV/AIDS is real and should be thought about as well as talked about to the present generation. Today, we visited Baptist High School in Town. Following the objectives of getting the Youths informed about issues which relates to their health, we could not just keep quiet and allow the spread of HIV/AIDS without raising our voice and joining the clarion call. Research carried out by the Medical Association revealed that there was an increase in patients infected with HIV/AIDS and it was growing rapidly especially amongst the Youths who were not totally aware of the disease because of the decrease in sensitization efforts since HIV/AIDS was no longer a killer disease. We went out in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. The students were happy we came and promised to also spread the news within their own family, friends and circle since HIV/AIDS affects not just an individual but the entire community.
